Hi everyone. My house is 10 minutes drive from Durham City Centre and 20 minutes on the local arriva bus service (which runs every 20 minutes). The house is small and compact. Recently re-wired, new plumbing, new gas boiler, new kitchen and bathroom and upvc double glazing as part of the modernisation programme. The kitchen and bathroom are small. All newly tiled with clean safety non slip flooring. Both bedrooms are reasonably sized double bedrooms. Small lawned enclosed front garden area with additional room at side which can be used or converted as a drive. side path with gate leading through to quite large enclosed (high fenced) rear lawned garden. Red brick built shed also at side. House is situated coming into a quiet and clean cul-de-sac. Quiet, friendly neighbours. Esh Winning is a large, friendly (and child safe/friendly) ex mining village situated in the Derwent valley and surrounded by hills and forests. Local amenities/shops include one nursery and two primary/junior schools, two community centres and a library. Secondary/post 16 school is Deerness Valley Comprehensive/Durham Community Business (Enterprise & Technology) College situated 3 miles away (local transport provided). 2 fish and chip shops, 1 chinese take away, 1 indian take away, 1 pizza/kebab take away, Londis, Co-Op, 3 other general stores (including one which sells everything from paint, DIY tools to pet supplies!), 3 hairdressers, butchers, cake/pie shop, chemists, doctors surgery, post office, tool hire/sales shop, 3 local pubs and 4 more pubs within 2-3 miles. Football and cricket club (with their own pubs!). Local business/employment/workforce is building trades (with the main one being ESH Group). Private renting a house like mine would cost about £400 - £450 per month). The teenagers who hang around are friendly enough and don't cause trouble. The reasons I want to move are: 1. I've just become divorced and want a fresh start. 2. I want to be nearer Newcastle for the culture. 3. I just haven't re-settled here since leaving the Army.
